It is really hard to find free Mac photo editor software these days. The only reason behind this is that there are many such free Mac photo editor software which do more or less same job. As per our eagerness, we intended to find the best free Mac photo editor software along with other handy ones.
During our search we found many free software which are capable to create and edit images. Some had only few features in it and some of them have restricted features. But there are few of them which are best and quite handy with some cool features. So here are they:


GIMP for Mac OS X

GIMP is an open source image editor. It is also known as “free Photoshop” at times. GIMP comes quite handy for Mac OS X as it has many similar features as are in Photoshop.

 

 

Seashore

Seashore is based around GIMP’s technology. It uses the same file format as used in GIMP. According to the developer few of its features are like layers with over 20 merging effects, anti-aliased brush strokes, 6 basic gradient effects with 16 variations, etc.
It also possesses the ability to edit the primary or alpha channels.

 

 

Pixen

Pixen is once again a free graphics editor for Mac. It’s the most suitable software for animation and pixel based editing as far as free Mac photo editing software are concerned.
Few of the features which are included in Pixen are layers capability, title view, animation features, etc.

 

Chocoflop

Chocoflop was the next best available option for Mac, but the project has been called off from any further development. So it is still best option for those people who are using Leopard not snow leopard. As far as its features are concerned, chocoflop is good for editing images while keeping them non-destructive, rich text, core image filters, raw support, etc.

  • CinePaint:

    CinePaint is an open source painting program used by motion picture studios to retouch images in 35mm films. It was formerly called Film Gimp.

    It has been used in a dozen feature films including Harry Potter, Scooby-Doo, and the Fast & the Furious.
  • CocoaSlideShow:

    CocoaSlideShow is the perfect companion for iPhone GPS tagged photos.



    License is freeware and the features which it includes are— full screen mode, handles Apple Remote, rotate pictures, drag and drop files and folders (recursive), add / remove / export / trash pictures, no Bezel, Ken Burns effect or Minuet in G and it is really fast.

    iMagine Photo is the tool for the automated processing of digital photographs using AppleScript. iMagine Photo will run only on Mac OS X 10.3.3 and higher.
  • Inkscape:

    Inkscape is an Open Source vector graphics editor, with capabilities similar to Illustrator, Freehand, CorelDraw, or Xara X using the W3C standard Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG) file format.
